Jay Hefner tragically lost his life while attempting to protect his cousin from an act of violence in what has been described by his heartbroken family as a “senseless act of gun violence.” The 24-year-old adult film star had traveled from Ontario, Canada, to Nebraska to celebrate a loved one’s birthday.
Around 1:30 AM on Sunday morning, ‘Hefner’ was reportedly shot while defending his cousin on the streets of downtown Lincoln. Despite the immediate efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 5:40 AM.
His girlfriend, Madi Murchison, shared an emotional tribute on social media following the tragic news. She expressed her profound grief upon receiving the call from his mother. “I’ve never felt this type of hurt and I don’t know how to get through it,” she stated. Murchison characterized Hopkins as her “safe place,” emphasizing that he provided her with love unlike anything she had ever experienced before. “This one hurts; my heart is completely broken… you made sure to vocalize your love every single day.”
